Garden Ornaments Trio A - Thistle, Sea Holly and Poppy Seed Head

The ceramic seed heads and flowers create a stunning display among perennial plants, adding beauty throughout the seasons. Even as the plants fade away in winter, the garden sculptures continue to provide interest, helpfully marking the position of dormant perennials so you won’t accidentally plant over them!

My sculptures are frost proof, and are designed to be left outside all year round. My in-laws in Scotland have been enjoying their garden ornaments since 2016, and I’ve conducted my own frost tests.

Each of my designs is an artistic interpretation of nature, I am inspired by seed heads and flowers and then I experiment with different textures and forms and to some extent allow the clay to dictate the final result!

Positioning the ornaments is easy, the metal rods can be pushed or hammered (using a wooden block to protect the metal) into the ground at different depths, allowing for flexible arrangements that work beautifully in your garden. Simply slide the ceramic topper onto the metal stake, you can wiggle the rod into the slot. Some customers prefer to move their sculptures in view of a window during the winter months to enjoy their beauty while spending more time indoors.

To create a variety of textures, I utilise various found tools in addition to my handmade stamps to impress patterns into the soft clay. When I apply the pale turquoise-green glaze, the un-glazed areas show a warm, toasty orange halo effect from the nearby glaze during firing, which adds another element of interest and depth to the pieces.

Each piece has unique variations in the bronze and green glazes, influenced by how they melt in the kiln. Shapes, patterns and textured will be slightly different each time due to their hand made nature.

Every sculpture is one-of-a-kind, perfectly imperfect just like nature!

I use natural colours that compliment, rather than distract from the plants in your flower beds. They invite you to notice and appreciate the beauty of your garden and its plants throughout the year.

Poppy seed head: height 10cm x width 7.5cm

Thistle: height 11cm x width 7cm

Sea Holly: height 5cm x width 16cm

Length of metal rods: 100cm these will rust beautifully over time.

Delivery and Packaging: I charge £7 for postage and packaging. Garden ornaments are packaged in a box within a second box to avoid any breakages. The metal rods will be packaged separately in a triangular tube. I re-use old newspapers for padding (donated by my lovely customers), and all the packaging is recyclable.
