This is a fun, creative, clay filled day where you will leave feeling a real sense of achievement having made something unique with your own hands!
Students tell me that I'm incredibly patient and make creating these complex designs achievable with my positive encouragement and teaching skills (I used to be a primary school teacher!)
During this one day workshop, which runs from 10am - 4pm, you will create a set of three garden ornaments inspired by seed heads and flowers.
It's always very exciting to see them again after they have gone through their transformation in the kiln. At 1250 degrees celcius the glazes melt and the clay vitrifies. Your artworks will then be very frost resistant and can be left in the garden all year round.
In the morning we will sculpt with clay to make seed heads and flowers (initially I will guide everyone step by step through the process of making a poppy seed head) and after lunch we will paint on the green and bronze glaze (this is called raw glazing).
The cost of the workshop is £160 which includes the firing of three seed heads and the metal rods to go with them. Once fired (around 4 weeks later) they will be ready to collect or we can arrange postage.
I will provide tea, coffee and homemade brownies and savoury flapjacks. Please bring a packed lunch and water bottle. Also bring an apron and wear old clothes.
Workshops take place in my garden studio in Hindhead, Surrey. 10am-4pm
All abilities welcome!
Please read the terms and conditions and cancellation policy below before booking.

You may use these techniques for making other items in your own style to sell. It's all about finding your own creative voice! Unfortunately, if you have cancelled within four weeks, I cannot guarantee that we can simply postpone your attendance if I have been unable to find a replacement. Thank you for your understanding.

Such a brilliant day with Emma making fabulous seed heads and bird baths -can’t wait to book the next one xx
Emma is a welcoming, talented artist who makes her one day workshops a most enjoyable experience. Emma shares her skills and techniques generously so you learn so much, it is very friendly workshop. The best 6 hours I have spent.
Emma is a great teacher. Patient, enthusiastic and very friendly. Every step is explained with a demo. It's fast paced so you can get a lot done if you want to. The end results are amazing!
Emma’s workshop was excellent. Very well
organised and planned so that we were able to make at least three pieces each. Each step of the process was clearly demonstrated and Emma was always happy to assist and answer any questions. A thoroughly enjoyable and informative day
This is the second time I’ve been on a course and each time it has been brilliant. Emma is very knowledgeable and provides clear instructions suitable for both beginners and more experienced folks. Everyone can make multiple seed heads of various types on the day so it is very satisfying. I look forward to going back next year when hopefully she’ll have some new creations to try.
