A workshop voucher enables you to gift a workshop experience, without having to worry about the exact date (although please be aware that I only teach on weekdays, mainly during term time). The workshop runs from 10am-4pm.
A day or two after your purchase I will email you a PDF gift voucher for you to print at home or share via email with the recipient. There will be a unique coupon code printed on the voucher which can be redeemed via my website at checkout. The voucher will be valid for one year. I will also include an information sheet so the recipient knows how to book and what to expect on the day.
This gift voucher is the perfect present for someone who enjoys learning a new craft, or a pottery lover, but you don't need to be creative or arty to enjoy the day! It makes a special gift for gardeners and bird lovers, people love making the little cow parsley bird drinkers. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners or those with more experience working with clay. This is a handbuilding class, we will not be using a potter's wheel.
This is a fun, creative, clay filled day where you will leave feeling a real sense of achievement having made something unique with your own hands!
Students tell me that I'm incredibly patient and make creating these complex designs achievable with my positive encouragement and great teaching skills (I used to be a primary school teacher!)
During this one day workshop, which runs from 10am - 4pm, you will create a set of three garden ornaments inspired by seed heads and flowers.
Each ornament is unique and is a reflection of the personality and hands of the maker... are you creative and experimental, or mathematical with an attention to detail?
It's always very exciting to see them again after they have gone through their transformation in the kiln. At 1250 degrees celcius the glazes melt and the clay vitrifies. Your artworks will then be frost proof and can be left in the garden all year round.
In the morning we will sculpt with clay to make seed heads and flowers (initially I will guide everyone step by step through the process of making a poppy seed head) and after lunch we will paint on the green and bronze glaze (this is called raw glazing).
The cost of the workshop includes the firing of three seed heads and the metal rods to go with them. Once fired (around 3-4 weeks later) they will be ready to collect or we can arrange postage.
I will provide tea, coffee and homemade brownies. Please bring a packed lunch and water bottle. Also bring an apron and wear old clothes and closed toed shoes.
Workshops take place in my garden studio in Hindhead, Surrey. 10am-4pm
All abilities welcome!
Please read the terms and conditions and cancellation policy below before booking.
Terms and conditions:
Please understand that I am very generous with sharing my years of knowledge and techniques that I have developed. If you intend to make seed heads or flowers in my style using the techniques I have shown you during the workshop, please be considerate and do not sell your work or run a similar workshop due to intellectual copyright. You may use these techniques for making other items in your own style to sell. It's all about finding your own creative voice! Unfortunately, if you have cancelled within four weeks, I cannot guarantee that we can simply postpone your attendance if I have been unable to find a replacement. Thank you for your understanding.
